STRING, *itler, Dresden und Wolfgang Behr
Am Anfang war die Großmutter
Wolfgang Behr (*1957 in Munich) has bavarian-bohemian roots and was educated Catholic as a child. Some of his ancestors, landed aristocrates from Selb (Nothern Bavaria), were members of the district court in Eger/Cheb (Bohemia) during the 13th and 14th century. Later on some of them became robber barons.
He looks at his work with STRING as politics and as philosophy:
" I do not belong to any group or party. It is essential for the quality of my STRING-Project that I am personifying it as a single, individual personage. Obviously many people have difficulties to get the point of STRING. Especially my commitment for a modern revival of the messianic topos, as presented on the "Anti-*itler" - site, is bewildering them.
Everything in my life has been rather ordinary beside of the fact that at the age of seventeen I have had a philosophical vocation. From the beginning, however, it was not the writing of a great new book, but the decisive role as philosopher in contemporary (information-)society, which I regarded as a necessary next step in philosophy. Only five years later the STRING-Project took shape during a difficult personal crisis.
I always knew that it will take a very long period, until this project can emerge in public. This emergence depends on both - on the advanced stage of myself and on the one of the world.
The end of the Soviet empire has shown that even in our highly informed (perhaps over-informed) world really unexpected events can happen, which are of a world-shaking extent.
STRING is just the form, one possible form of a should-be world-wide movement, whose model is the one, which became known as "WIR SIND DAS VOLK !" (We are the people!) and which happened 1989 in Eastern Germany (the former GDR)."
